Her Spirit to work in partnership with Swim England to inspire more women to swim
Swim England is the national governing body hopes the joint ambition will help to increase female participation across its aquatic disciplines and help more women experience the benefits of being in the water.
Swim England’s Value of Swimming report found that 2.7 million women swam at least twice a month prior to the pandemic.
Also, according to Outdoor Swimmer magazine’s Trends in Outdoor Swimming report, female participation has increased from 65 per cent to 73.5 per cent in the past 12 months.
The aim is to continue those positive trends and being in the water, whether that be indoor or outdoor, offers a range of physical and mental health benefits.
Women and girls benefit the most, with swimming more than doubling their self confidence, according to the national governing body’s research.
