Her Spirit Partners with British Triathlon to support more women into Triathlon.

Her Spirit and My First Triathlon

In 2021, women new to the sport of triathlon will be looking to get healthier and happier through taking part at the AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds through a partnership with Her Spirit and British Triathlon.

With at least 50 women targeting the GO TRI for the first time, and numerous others through the Sprint and Standard races, they will be supported by our personalised Her Spirit coaching app to help them develop healthy lifestyles and get ready to take to the start line.

GO TRI is British Triathlon’s beginner programme to help more people get active through triathlon and, with 57% of the 33,000 GO TRI Community being female, has played a huge role in helping to increase the number of women involved in physical activity since it was established in 2013.

In 2019, over 3,000 people achieved their goal to swim, bike and run by completing their race at AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds. Giving everyone the opportunity to take on triathlon is a core value of the weekend, with GO TRI an ever-present fixture at the event since the first edition in 2015.

Her Spirit will be offering participants a range of support including an eight-week coaching plan, 1-2-1 coaching all within a personalised coaching app to help them find a realistic and sustainable path to healthy living through improving their mind, body and fuel offer. By using this three-pronged approach, the app aims to help women improve their long-term health in community and with expert advice and insight.

Wayne Coyle, Event Director AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds, said: “The event weekend provides opportunity for triathletes of all abilities to take part from first timers to the world’s best. GO TRI is a great way for people to start their triathlon journey and shows that the sport is accessible for anyone and everyone to get involved with.

“Her Spirit works to help more women get fit and take part in sport and we’re so pleased that these women will be making AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds their aim in 2021.”

Holly Woodford co-founder of Her Spirit, said: Partnerships are key to our community and working with British Triathlon is very exciting. It was so inspirational to see a group of thirty women last year in less than eight weeks go from never thinking about a triathlon to completing their first event. Many of them will be competing in Leeds and five of them including myself will be a level 1 coach by race day.
